Dans la mesure où la forme en -ing a une fonction de nom, elle peut être déterminée, comme tout autre nom, par :

un article à a sitting, the reading

un démonstratif à this bluffing

un adjectif possessif à her talking about cricket was fascinating.

un adjectif à Viola's splendid singing

un nom + 's à John's watching Batman on television

un complément à the sinking of the Titanic

et être introduite par une préposition à She is fond of studying carnivorous plants.
